CBM Fair To Feature Congressional Candidates

The first week of June will see Gillette getting much attention from oil and gas energy producers, suppliers, and merchants. Not only that, a growing energy convention nine years in the making will be transitioning and expanding its scope. CBM Fair 2008 will be the beginning of a transformation from a symposium spotlighting the Coalbed Methane Industry to an exposition highlighting Wyoming’s and the West’s abundant energy resources. In 2008, exhibitors and panel discussions from conventional Natural Gas and Oil Production will be added to showcase their new and innovative energy technologies.

In June 2009 the CBM Fair will be moving to the new Wyoming Center at the Cam-Plex Multi Event Facilities. At that time the CBM Fair will become the Energy Exposition. Over the last several years, this event has become the Rocky Mountain’s largest energy trade exhibition, with over 5,400 people and nearly 300 contractors, operators, and vendors attending last year’s event.

This year’s theme is “Wildlife, Pipelines and Politics”. Over 300 exhibitors will provide information and demonstrate products to over 5,000 industry professionals and members of the general public. Panel discussions and presentations will include sage grouse concerns, CBM water injection, and Wyoming pipeline status.

On Thursday, June 5th, all five declared candidates for the US House of Representatives from Wyoming have been invited to address energy issues. Republicans Cynthia Lummis, Mark Gordon, Bill Winney, Dan Zwonitzer, and Democrat Gary Trauner have agreed to attend and will discuss energy production in Wyoming. The “Energy Forum” will begin at 1:00 p.m. and is scheduled to end at 3:30 p.m. So far, this is the only scheduled event where all five candidates will be sharing the platform.

Exhibitors, members of the energy industry, and general public will be polled in order to develop an opening question and a candidate-specific question which will be asked of each candidate. The candidates will have five minutes to introduce themselves and answer their first question. Each candidate will be given three minutes to answer the candidate-specific question. The first question and candidate-specific question will be given to the candidates a week prior to the Energy Forum.

You can participate in this forum by submitting your questions to the Forum coordinators. Go to wyomingcbm.com, click on Energy Forum Questions and fill out the contact form and your questions, one for all the candidates, and then a question specific to each candidate.

EDIT (5/13/2008; 3 PM MDT): At the time of this publication, Rep. Zwonitzer had just dropped out of the Congressional race. There has been no official word on the status of his attendance at the CBM Fair. The new candidate to the race, Dr. Michael Holland, has been invited, but will be unable to attend due to a previously scheduled retirement potluck.
