Just When The Race Narrows Down

I was excited that Rep. Dan Zwonitzer had dropped out of the U.S. House race. He has little recognition across the state and he wouldn’t have fared very well come August 19. A decent man, but not quite ready for a race of this magnitude. So, you’ll understand the shock I felt when I saw this headline this morning.
Physician enters race for U.S. House
I was stunned beyond what I had been stunned about before. We were getting down to three candidates (one of whom just needs to switch parties and be a thorn in Trauner’s side), and now we’re back up to four, and it’s likely that the fourth isn’t that well known???
I began racking my brain, Becket Hinkley was talking about running, but he’s in the legal profession, specifically an Assistant D.A. I haven’t heard about any physicians desiring to run. So, I clicked on the link:
A doctor who says the government had foreknowledge of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has quietly entered the race for Wyoming’s seat in the U.S. House.
Dr. Michael Holland, a pathologist at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, hasn’t publicly announced his campaign, isn’t sure whether he’s going to do much advertising and doesn’t plan to campaign anywhere he hasn’t been invited.
Well, isn’t that grand? We come off immediately sounding like a conspiracy theorist, the campaign for public office isn’t publically announced (other than through a press release in the media), and if you don’t see the candidate, he’s not going to be very active in advertiing to earn your vote, and if he’s not invited somewhere, he’s not coming. But all that’s OK:
Even so, Holland said Saturday that he’s a serious candidate who wants to help remake the Republican Party. He said he hopes to be invited to debate with the other three Republicans who hope to replace Rep. Barbara Cubin, who isn’t seeking re-election.
Well, if you’re serious, shouldn’t you be making a serious attempt at campaigning rather than just “hoping” to get invited somewhere? So, why is the doc walking for office?
“I’m running because I listened and looked at the Web sites of some of the other people that have announced, Bill Winney and Cynthia Lummis, and I didn’t get the sense that they were addressing some of the issues that I felt are most important,” Holland said in a phone interview from his home in Green River.
“The Republican Party has drifted far afield of where it should be, traditionally.”
OK, it’s another one of those disgruntled Republicans. Granted, I’m not 100% happy with my party, but when the basis of running for a Federal office is “remake the party” I have to wonder. If you want to “remake the party” it seems to me you’d be better off running for Precinct Committee as that is where the most basic grass roots efforts in party leadership take place.
After going on about Ron Paul and the Constitution, the new almost-candidate had this too say:
He also said the government at least had foreknowledge of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. He said training exercises that day drew military jets away from the East Coast.
“Whether they let it happen or made it happen, you know, does it really matter?” he said.
Yes, it does really matter, Dr. Holland. Sept. 11th happened and was executed by people that hate this country because we support Israel and believe in capitalism. We need to defend our nation from them and we need to secure our boarders too. I am sick of people trying to ascribe blame to our nation for Sept. 11th. I’m sick of the conspiracy theories. How about, instead of wondering how the government played a role in 9/11, taking a moment to thank God that you weren’t on one of those planes or in one of those buildings. Maybe take a moment to thank God that 100 some-odd Baptist pastors and Christian School administrators that were in the White House that morning were spared from a hijacked jet crashing into them. Maybe go to the extreme and thank God that another 9/11 style attack hasn’t happened since 2001!
We live in the greatest nation on this earth. We’re not destrying it with C02, we are winning Iraq, and I have a hunch that Wyoming is not going to support Michael Holland.

Great!
As a ‘truther” pathologist, obviously his “clients” are smarter than him.
So if he’s only going where he’s invited, I’d guess a trip to Jackson Hole or the UW teacher’s lounge is on the schedule.
I’m inviting him to head to Berkley. He’ll fit right in.
