Barrasso Campaign to Become Official

Our New SenatorIt’s amazing what a little campaign announcement news can do for one’s Republican blood-flow.

If you haven’t met Sen. Barrasso yet, or even if you have, make plans to attend one of of his three campaign kick-off ceremonies.

No, he’s not running three campaigns, he’s kicking off his campaign in three locations across the state! One of them happens to be right here in the Big Horn Basin!

To recap the history, Sen. Barrasso was sworn into the U.S. Senate by Vice President Cheney on June 25, 2007, just weeks after the passing of Wyoming’s beloved Sen. Craig Thomas. Wyoming law dictates that the appointment is good only until the next election cycle, in which he must survive the August Primary (so far uncontested), and the November election (in which he will face, at this point, one of two Democrats) to finish out the four year unexpired term.

On Monday, May 19th, Sen. Barrasso will be traveling the state to officially announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. He will start off in Thermopolis, travel down to Casper, and finish his tour in Cheyenne.

The official Facebook event page has this note with the details:

Come show your support by attending one of my three official campaign announcement ceremonies!

I will be starting out in Thermopolis, WY at 8:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn.

After that I will be in Casper, and the event will start at 11:45 a.m. at the Parkway Plaza.

If you can’t be at the Thermopolis or Casper event, please come to the Cheyenne official announcement. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. and will take place in Capitol Rotunda.

There will be time for you to mingle with both Bobbi and I, and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Photo-Op with the SenatorAs a side note, Wyoming is one of two states that has both Senators up for election this year.

I plan to be at the Thermopolis event. If you see me there, come by and say Howdy!

It does make for an early rise on my day off, but the drive and being at a campaign announcement for a good conservative Republican will be well worth it.

    Scott,
I was able to attend the Casper event and his reception was terriffic. Sen. Mike Enzi was on hand to introduce Sen. Barrasso. I can tell you that of all of the speeches and political events I’ve attended, I’ve never heard such a resounding and heartfelt introduction. Sen. Enzi spent a few moments recalling the accomplishments and hard work Sen. Barrasso has done in just the past ten months. Sen. Enzi even led from the front row a standing ovation when Sen. Barrasso came to the point in his speech announcing his candidacy.

Senator Barrasso spoke before a packed room personally thanking all of the gathered friends and former colleagues. State Senator Landin, who replaced Sen. Barrasso, was on hand and was also given a round of applause. State Sen. Jennings was also in attendance to show support of his long time friend.

I look forward to campaigning for a true servant of the people of Wyoming and a friend to many across the state.

    Brian,

Thanks for the great update from Casper!

We had a wonderful turnout in Thermopolis this morning. When it came closer to the start time, more chairs had to be brought into the room.

Rep. Quarberg (R-HD-28, Thermopolis) was present as was Mrs. Barrasso’s parents, and her pastor, who I know because his wife is in the same musical genre as my parents.

I’ll have more info in a forthcoming post.
