Sheridan Man Seeks Young Republicans

I have a guest post on the blog today. Russ Hart is a young man from over in Sheridan. He is one enthusiastic and energetic Republican. He’s done some research and noted the lack of a Young Republicans chapter in Wyoming. So, he’s taking his Republican energy and getting on the Precinct Committee in his area and leading the charge on getting a Wyoming chapter of the Young Republican National Federation. Following is his recruiting e-mail that recently went out.

I am writing to ask for your help in organizing a Wyoming chapter of the Young Republican National Federation. This federation has been functioning since the 1930’s without representation from Wyoming. We have a long history of voting conservative candidates into office, and I think that the best way to ensure that this trend continues is to give younger Republicans every opportunity to get involved.

Luke Shilts of Colorado is our District Director, and he is going to help us get the ball rolling on this. Since he is not a Wyoming Citizen he must act as a “coach” in this process. I spoke with him over the phone recently and he explained the criteria necessary to form a state chapter. The minimum requirements are quite simple; we need 50 members, 5 people willing to accept leadership positions, and members must be between the ages of 18-40. Other membership requirements vary from state to state, so we will have the luxury of writing our own into our bylaws. Once we meet these requirements we can begin to move forward.

Mr. Shilts will be helping us along the way with rules and regulations, but for the time being, please let me know if you are interested, and feel free to forward this to anybody you know who may be interested. If you do the math, we are at 30% of our initial membership requirement. I know, that’s 70% left to fill, but all that it takes to tip the scale is 35 more members! Don’t delay! Sign up today!!!
