Montana Judge Reimposes Wolf Protections

You would think a judge in Montana would have a little more common sense, but then again, he is a Clinton appointee.

U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy finally made his decision official Friday afternoon and ordered the cute little gray wolves back under ESA protections. Like I said back in May, I think the judge should have thrown the case out.

The environmental groups that brought the case didn’t really have ought against Montana’s wolf management plan. The big issue was Wyoming because we think that if they want wolves in Yellowstone, they can have them in Yellowstone. We’d just assume not have them terrorizing the rest of the state. So, we’ll maintain the wolf numbers in the northwestern corner of the state, but once they get so far out, they’re free game. Granted, I think the line should have been a little closer to the national forest boundary than the east side of Cody, but at least there was a line.

Secondly, the number of wolves needed for delisting was 300. Now we are at 2,000, almost SEVEN TIMES the target number. Now a bunch of liberal, left-wing, big-government, socialistic, communistic, environmentalist loonies are out there crying crocodile tears (made from melted polar ice).

“There were fall hunts scheduled that would call for perhaps as many as 500 wolves to be killed. We’re delighted those wolves will be saved,” said attorney Doug Honnold with Earthjustice, who had argued the case before Molloy on behalf of 12 environmental groups.

Let’s see, 2,000 wolves; take away 500…zero, zero, borrow the one, five, one. Wow! That leaves 1,500 wolves! Still five times the amount needed to be off the endangered/threatened list! Do people think anymore, or is it just about feeling all warm and fuzzy inside because you care. Case in point the following quote at the end of the article:

“We’re of course relieved the lawsuit is being heard, and that wolves will be guarded in the meantime,” said Suzanne Stone, Northern Rockies representative for the wolf advocacy group Defenders of Wildlife. “It was a life or death decision for hundreds of wolves here in the region, and now it means life, and we’re very pleased with the decision.”

Awwww, how sweet. Life or death for hundreds of wolves and the choice was for life. Well, life for the wolf anyway.  Other wildlife (known as “food” to the wolf) are not so lucky. I have to wonder where she stands on life or death decisions for humans yet to be born.
