The Wyoming Primary Election is winding down. Polls will be closing tonight at 7, and ballots will be getting turned into the County Clerks’ offices across the state and numbers will start getting reported, but where to find it all? Following is a list of resources that you can utilize in your desire to keep up-to-the minute on how the numbers are playing out across the Cowboy State.
Radio/TV
Check with your local news radio stations for reporting and/or commentary on the results as they come in. KODI 1400 AM is usually a pretty good bet for cutting into ESPN Radio’s broadcast for Park County and statewide returns.
I also heard Sunday that KTHE 1240 AM in Thermopolis will be covering Hot Springs County returns from poll closure until the last of the results are reported. No, I haven’t been to Thermop recently, but I would like to thank the FCC for mandating that KZMQ-FM move the Cody signal to the same frequency as the Thermopolis FM Country station (*sings* Dino 1-0-1 point 7…), giving the latter a boost in some areas surrounding Cody, like the Wapiti Valley. I’m guessing that Wyoming Public Radio will be covering returns, as will assorted TV stations across the state.
Internet
- I will be live Twittering from my location as I find out results of interest.
- The Secretary of State, overseer of elections among other duties, has a website devoted to displaying results state-wide. In the August 2006 primary, electionresults.state.wy.us was launched in an effort to report real-time results, consisting of continually updated, unofficial vote counts on election night and then official numbers after the canvass is certified.
- Park County has an online elecion results reporting venue as well, at parkcountyelections.net I recently visited the office and they noted that they would be updating the results page as often as possible after the polls close and there’s enough precincts counted to have a meaningful count. A general overview of the numbers can be viewed here and a break-down of results by precinct can be seen here (requires Adobe Reader)
