Lummis Campaigns In Pinedale, Opposes Bailout

While I was manning the Park County Republican Headquarters today, I was amazed to hear that the bailout actually failed passage. Even more that 95 Democrats found their backbones to stand with most Republicans against Speaker Pelosi.

When the votes were finally posted on Washington Post, I was disappointed that Rep. Cubin sided with 64 other Republicans and voted Yes, but at least she voted. Tonight, I have received a press release from the Lummis campaign, and I am pleased to share with you that the Republican nominee seeking to replace Rep. Cubin would have voted no if she were there today.

While campaigning today in Sublette County, former state treasurer Cynthia Lummis said, “Had I been a member of Congress today, I would have voted against the current bailout legislation. The regular taxpayer needs more protection than this legislation provides.”

“Estimates suggest this bailout will increase the debt ceiling by $1.3 trillion, while failing to restrict salaries for CEO’s of the failed companies. In spite of the tremendous cost, today’s legislation deals inadequately with the root cause: the mortgage crisis, defaults, and foreclosures.”

“If the government burdens the American taxpayer with the responsibility of non-performing subprime loans, it will take a lifetime for working Americans to recover the capital.”

“Congress should stay in Washington until they find a better solution, one that protects Main Street American banks, and their customers who paid 20% owner equity before obtaining a home mortgage, as well as those Americans whose everyday paychecks do not include salary protections like those for Wall Street CEO’s. I am confident that Congress will rise above partisanship and find a real solution.”

Acknowledging today’s partisan attack by her opponent, Lummis said, “Perhaps my opponent should spend time talking about solutions that protect the average working American instead of taking partisan shots at me. Our country’s financial security is at stake and his partisanship isn’t productive or appropriate.”

This should help Lummis who needs the help. I am considering writing a letter to the Casper paper in support of Lummis and need to do some research.
Where can I find information about the politics and candidates in Wyoming?
I do not receive any Wyo. TV stations and can only stand the Casper paper on Sunday. Radio is about it for me. I fear that if BO wins the White House with a big Democrat majority in congress it may be the anvil that breaks the camels back.
