Majority of Trauner Campaign $$ from out-of-state

Riverton, WYO  (October 23, 2008) Using the September 30th Federal Election Commission (FEC) report as the barometer for their analysis, Common Sense Issues in Wyoming is highlighting the Trauner campaign’s out-of-state contributions.  FEC Reports reveal money is pouring in from New York City to Hollywood.  Trauner has raised $219,875 from California and New York alone. The question Planet Jackson Hole asks is, “Why is the money flowing from outside Wyoming?” Specifically, 100% of the special interest money ($319,914 from PACs) Trauner has received comes from out-of-state.

Eli Bebout, State Senator from Riverton and spokesperson for Common Sense Issues in Wyoming says, “Comparing Gary Trauner’s campaign contributions to Cynthia Lummis, reveals interesting facts about who the candidates are turning to for support.”

From the moment Gary Trauner made his campaign announcement in Chicago at the liberal bloggers’ annual Netroots Nation Convention, it was clear where his interests lie.  In fact, Trauner’s FEC reports show Berkeley-based Markos Moulitsas, founder of the leading liberal blog, DailyKos, has already personally given over $2000 to the Democrat.

Numbers don’t lie and I encourage every Wyoming voter to go to the FEC website for themselves. Trauner’s campaign has tried to highlight its in-state donors, but the real issue at hand is not how much support Trauner is getting from the people of Wyoming, but rather, why the majority of his campaign is being fueled by people and interests from out-of-state.

Common Sense Issues launched a radio ad campaign across Wyoming today to inform the citizens of Wyoming about Gary Trauner’s out-of-state political contributions.
