Wyoming YR’s Gearing Up For Inaugural Convention In Casper

Capping off about a year’s worth of recruiting and networking, the Wyoming Young Republicans are set to hold their first convention in Casper on Saturday June 20th.

Last summer, Russ Hart, now a precinct committeeman in Sheridan, started a group on Facebook to begin recruiting people to join the Wyoming YR Chapter. By the end of the year, there were just over 60 members. In mid-January, enough members were signed up to begin moving forward in the organization process. A later convention date was selected to allow college student members to attend the first convention. Earlier this year, Khale Lenhart agreed to lead the Wyoming YR’s in organizing the convention.

The convention will consist of two sessions. In the morning, internal busness will be taken care of. A lunch with food from a local business will split the sessions. In the afternoon, noted Republicans have accepted invitations to speak. The slate includes:

  • Reed Dickens, Former White House Assistant Press Secretary, Bush/Cheney ‘04 Spokesman, Contributor to Larry King Live, and founder of Outside Eyes
  • Senator John Barrasso, Republican Senator from Wyoming
  • Representative Cynthia Lummis, Congresswoman for Wyoming’s At-Large District in the United States House of Representatives
  • Diana Vaughan, Chair of the Wyoming Republican Party
  • Bruce Brown, Vice Chair of the Wyoming Republican Party
  • Susan Thomas, Republican activist and wife of late Senator Craig Thomas

You can register for one or both sessions of the convention at www.wyyr.org/convention/If you plan to attend only one session but would like to attend the lunch, e-mail your intent to info@wyyr.org

What an excellent showing the YR group had. We are ready to help conservative values fight Washington’s push for liberalism and control. Whether we are 18 or 40 we are ready. WYYR is crucial in helping push WY into the next generation of leadership and opportunity while holding steadfast to the values that make our state what America used to be and where everyone wants to live. God bless WY and God bless America. God bless the GOP.
